We currently have 9 voluntary members on our main Tidy Towns Committee. It was agreed that our Tidy Towns Committee should serve as a steering group with representation from all sectors of our community and would undertake to devise and manage the planning process. This tiered approach has not only increased participation of groups in our Town but also has proven to be an effective method of communication.
In addition,we would like to acknowledge contribution and assistance from: TUS Employment Scheme (Carlow County Development Partnership)
DSP Community Employment Scheme
These workers engage in a 3 year contract with Bagenalstown Improvement Group. As part of their training, we ensure that all participants undertake and complete the Fetac level 5 Horticulture course. This not only benefits the quality of the work they provide, but also ignites a passion for care and commitment to the scheme. Attaining this accreditation also provides them with an extra skill to offer to prospective employers.
DSP Community Employment Scheme 2019-21 As part of their FETAC Level 5 Horticulture Course our workers will take part in a three day information course on how to manage and make good quality hedge grows for pollinators and how to harvest seeds that are now part of our new perennial pollinator gardens in our town park, BEAM Centre, two schools and the old Court House.

Bagenalstown Improvement Group is a well-recognised voluntary group who has an inclusive and positive ethos. Our group has been at the heart of bringing many community projects to fruition over the years. The physical appearance of our Town has undergone a significant change and improvement thanks to the cooperation of Local Volunteers, agencies, business and schools due to the shared vision process. The sharing of workload and resources has also played a significant role in this area. Despite Cvid-19 we have seen many positive changes in our community.
Less obvious to the eye, but the cornerstone in the development of our community, are the relationships made through involvement in our group. Each sector of our community is now involved in the works and projects carried out by B.I.G. and wonderful new friendships are being formed which can only serve to improve the lives of those who live in, work in or visit our town.
